What Actually Happens In A Logo Design Project, Start To Finish

Annabelle

Before Any Design Happens

First thing is a welcome email, full process, project timelines confirmed, what to expect. Then it’s a kickoff call, which is really just me finding out about you.

The Brand Workshop

The real work starts with the questionnaire and the brand workshop. The questionnaire gives me a solid foundation, a brain dump from you. I like to ask some abstract questions too, if your brand was a movement, how would it move? Sounds a bit mad, but you learn a lot about a brand’s personality through questions like that.

The workshop itself is a two-to-three hour session, collaborative, working through a structure I’ve prepared based on your business.

From Research To Logo

Next is the brand deep dive, competitor and market research, but from a visual angle. Every brand has a visual language, a way of communicating without words. From there it’s mood boards, word association, sketching. Two to three logo concepts, a few rounds of revisions, then cleanup: gridding it up, checking curves and symmetry match, proper quality control.

That’s the bit nobody sees- and it’s the difference between a logo that looks fine and one that’s actually correct.

If you want a closer look at how this plays out for real brands, have a browse of the content I’ve been sharing on the process.
